Denominational Concerns
We at First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville are a community of believers seeking to be faithful to the head of our church, the Lord Jesus Christ. We hold closely to the authority of Scripture and to the ecumenical and Reformed confessions found in the PCUSA’s Book of Confessions. We believe that God has called us to this community, to this denomination, and to this time, to serve as salt and light in a darkened world.
Our convictions spur us to be bold where we see reticence, truthful where we see lies, and prophetic where we see compromise. The following documents are formed out of this community, with the humble desire to see renewal within our denomination and revival beyond it. We offer these as the beginnings of conversations, not the end of them. Please feel free to contact our pastors and elders if you would like to continue this conversation.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14, NIV)
