Adult Handbells

Photo of Handbell Choir practice on Wednesday afternoon.

First Presbyterian Church has a five-octave set of Schulmerich handbells. Since every bell is important in a composition, regular attendance is highly desirable, though planning allows substitutes to cover when attendance is not possible.

The repertoire grows as more music written for handbells becomes available each year. New pieces are challenging and a wide variety of playing techniques add variety to the music.

Gayle Stepp leads the group. Members include Gil Broyles, Angela Crawford, Ruth Dykstra, Karen Grady, Louise Frazier, Anita Hanson, Pat Kohere, Barbara Norris, Rosie Pardue, Kathy Reid, Thommy Snead, Shannon Stevens, Barb Stricker and Greg Weed. The handbells play the second Sunday of each month, September through May.

Rehearsals are 4:45-5:30 Wednesday afternoons before the weekly church dinner.
